Self-realization is among the most important of all the kinds of knowledge that we must seek. Of course, seeking knowledge about oneself is quite demanding, but it is vital for gaining success in personal and professional lives, and a sense of contentment.
When one knows the potential of self, it would be the best tool for the person to reach at his or her goals. The person will be able to move towards success in the right manner. Also, the person will be able to be at peace with themselves and with the world at large, so that the quality of life will improve in general.
The Duty of the Psychiatrist
The very duty of psychologists is to spend time in making people discover things about themselves and get to know their inner self well. People usually hide their own traits within themselves. This happens, for example, when a person passes through an uncomfortable phase of life. At a later stage, when the issue gets resolved, people might just enter into a phase of abnegation, i.e. denying the issue ever happened, or they might try to contort the circumstances to their own advantage.
When you have the right kind of realization about yourself, you will be able to pick and choose about how to lead your life.
Generally, we see that people who have good personalities are more successful in what they do. Having a good personality does not mean having a submissive personality, though. You do not have to bow down to the wishes of other people in order to succeed. The key to success is to have an optimistic view of life. You have to set principles for yourself in life and stick to them, but you should not see other’s perspectives in a poor light.
Self-realization does not happen like saying abracadabra. Attending self-realization courses to know yourself is not the right thing to do. Rather, the pursuit of the knowledge of self is a journey you have to undertake. In this journey, you will need to be always truthful to your own beliefs. You will surely find out things about yourself that you do not want to know. But, instead of repressing them in the recesses of your mind, you must try to discard them forever. Accept your limitations and make attempts to change for the better.
When you are learning about your own self, you must also make sure that you do not insult the sensitivities of other people. Appreciate the opinions of others. Sometimes you will have to accept that the viewpoints of other people are better than yours. When this happens, you must be graceful enough to accept them. You might also have to help other people in this journey and be polite to them. But never keep your own personality in the dark. Even when helping others, flaunt your personality.
One of the most important lessons you will learn on this voyage of self-discovery is that each and every person born on the face of the earth has responsibilities, and is able to design their own life. This is complex knowledge, but when you know about your own place in life and your duties, you begin understanding this better.
The Justifications of the weak mind
Some weak people have the habit of acting in a wrong way and then trying to justifying their actions. Blaming other factors or people for your own follies is a sign of limitation. In psychology, this is called as projection.
The aim should be to improve the whole person that you are; be better in your own eyes and do not try to mimic what the others want you to be. You have to learn how to take the reins of your life into your own hands. Even after that, you have to attempt to take stock of the situation and take care of the people whom you are related to. One more important part of self-realization is discovering your own strengths and weaknesses and playing with them to get a better life.
Sometimes emotions will overpower you and try to make you act in undesirable ways. You might misjudge the situation, being emotionally conquered, and then do things that you shouldn’t. Humans are very deeply influenced by their own personal emotions. But we have to understand how to control the emotions and not bring them in the way of making our important decisions in life. Also, it is necessary to repress the emotions and come to conclusions quickly. Otherwise, life will simply pass us by and we will be left with nothing but our emotions.
Every person must have a joie de vivre about oneself. Being zestful about the activities you perceive will have a kind of inductive effect on the people you are associated with. When you are positive about things, you will see how that radiates from you to the others around you, and they get their optimism too. You will get cooperative hands from more corners than you ever dreamt of.
There will be detractors all around you. But if you are planning to take your life in a backward direction because of these negativistic people, then you will be never able to succeed. It is wisest to have a cool mind even in the midst of turmoil.
When you know yourself you will be able to tap your potential to the fullest and get the best kind of contentment from your life. You will find satisfaction. This satisfaction will be in everything you do – in your business, in love, in your academic achievements, in your relations with your friends… And that will definitely help you to set goals and make more realistic efforts at achieving them. When you achieve them finally, you will attain your state of contentment.
